Official Trade Marks Office Fees Change

13 10 2016

With effect from 10 October 2016, the Australian Trade Marks Office has changed its trade mark fees.

Local Changes

The changes include:

• The removal of the Trade Mark Registration fee, which was previously payable upon acceptance of a trade mark.
• An increase of $130 per class in application fees, for most Trade Mark Applications to partially offset the registration fee removal.
• An increase of $100 for Trade Mark Renewals, also to partially offset the registration fee removal.
• The removal of several Trade Mark Opposition fees.
• Extension of Time to Pay Late Renewal fees are now charged from the renewal date and not per class.

Madrid Changes

Changes to the Madrid Import Application and Import Renewal fees are scheduled to apply from 28 October 2016.

Further details on the changes can be found on the IP Australia website.
